Week 1-3 3D Print and Carvey Design
Week 1: Project intro, ideation, creation
-Discuss positive and negative shapes, contrast, 3D printer and Carvey
-Draw in Photoshop with pen and tablet introduction
-Plan/choose an image
-Draw by hand or in Photoshop
-Trace final drawing in Sharpie or -Save final Photoshop image as a .jpg and import into Easel
-Begin 3D printing and carving
Week 2-3: Print, carve, critique, assess, modify, present
-Continue printing and carving
-Assess and critique printed and carved projects:
What makes a 3D print or carved project successful?
What makes a 3D print or carved project unsuccessful?
What could be modified or improved to make a failed print or carve successful?
How do the balance of positive and negative shapes and thickness of lines impact 3D prints and carved projects?
-Present creation process using the app Adobe Spark Page
Week 4: Create Intro on Blog, Publish Spark Page, Scratch Music Project
Create a color background, welcome title and an introduction about yourself (using a contrasting color) on your blog
Publish your Spark Page presentation onto your blog page
Begin brainstorming for Scratch instrument. What will you create?
Learn basic scratch coding-- how can you use Scratch to create sound?
Week 5-7: Photoshop Quote Poster
Create a new google doc in your media arts folder. Brainstorm an adjective that describes you.
Online, search for a quote you like that fits with the adjective you chose to describe you.
Go to dafont.com and download some fonts that match the meaning/mood of your adjective.
In Photoshop, create a new 11 x 17 page.
Use the paint bucket to fill the page with a color that matches your adjective.
Use the text tool and the fonts you downloaded to type your adjective (large) and your quote.
Have a photo taken of you in a pose that goes with your adjective.
Import the photo into photoshop and resize. Change the opacity to 50%.
Lock all your layers. Create a new layer on top called "trace".
Click B for brush and choose a brush between 2-8 px. On the trace layer, trace all the details in your picture.
When you finish, click on the eye next to the picture layer to turn off your picture.
Make sure your composition is balanced (no big empty spaces, space around the edge and your words and drawing).
File--> Save as --> make the format (on the bottom) .jpeg
Add a title on your blog called Quote Poster.
Drag an image, then double click and drag your .jpg image in.
Drag text underneath and describe:
1) How your adjective and quote to describe you
2) How your pose shows your adjective
3) Things you did in Photoshop to make your portrait and text stand out
Week 7-9 Game Design
Use the app bloxels builder to create your own 13 bit video game. Design your own character, character animations, background, rooms, enemies, and story.
When you finish creating your game, film a video of you playing your game, explaining all the parts of your game. Add a voiceover and edit in iMovie. Upload to your blog.
